A scientific symposium at the College of Education discusses marital rights from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence

A symposium in the Department of Quranic Sciences at the College of Education, University of Samarra, discussed “Marital Rights from the Perspective of Islamic Jurisprudence,” presented by Professor Dr. Shifa Dheyaa Obaid and Assistant Lecturer Shahad Abdul Karim Hussein.

The symposium aimed to define marital rights from the perspective of Islamic law and clarify the rights and responsibilities between both parties. Dheyaa defined marital rights from the standpoint of Islamic jurisprudence as the foundations based on mutual kindness between spouses, upon which married life is built with decency and Islamic ethics.

Abdul Karim elaborated on marital life from the Islamic perspective and its impact on marital stability, in addition to clarifying the obligatory rights of the husband and wife and the shared rights and responsibilities between them.

Both symposium presenters recommended that spouses adhere to their respective rights and duties, such as the wife’s right to a dowry, the husband’s right to obedience, and their shared right to inheritance. They should also maintain confidentiality, cover each other’s flaws, and exercise patience with mistakes.
