Academic Achievement At Samarra University Researcher Publishes Study on Lithium-Ion Battery Stability in Scopus-Indexed Journal

Dr. Shaimaa Hisham Abdul-Malik, a faculty member at the College of Engineering At Samarra University, has published a joint research paper in the journal \\\”Energy Engineering\\\”, which is ranked within the second quartile (Q2) of the Scopus database.

The study, titled \\\”Analysis of the Impact of Geometric Arrangement and Packaging Materials on Thermal Generation in Lithium-Ion Battery Packs,\\\” addresses the thermal challenges that affect battery safety and lifespan. The researchers developed an advanced analytical model to compare the efficiency of various geometric arrangements and different thicknesses of Delrin (polyoxymethylene) as an insulating material.

The results demonstrated the superiority of the hexagonal arrangement with a thickness of 2 mm in achieving the highest thermal stability, particularly under extreme climatic conditions. The design recorded high performance efficiency at very low temperatures, reaching as low as -20.6°C.

This research serves as a vital scientific reference for developing safer and more efficient energy storage systems. It enhances the reliability of batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy applications, opening new horizons for designing industrial battery packs with longer operational lives and higher resistance to thermal hazards.

The Department of Media and Government Communication at the Rectorship of the University of Samarra congratulates the faculty member for her new research output, wishing her continued success in her academic and research career.
