College of Arts Organizes an English Language Oratory and Theater Festival as Part of Sustainability Week

The Department of English Language at the College of Arts, University of Samarra, organized the “Oratory and Theater Festival” as part of Sustainability Week activities. It was presented by a group of students from the department under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adwaa Mohammed Salman, along with Prof. Dr. Asmaa Abdulkarim Abdulrahman, who played a role in the festival’s prominent appearance.

The festival was distinguished by the attendance of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Allaw, Dean of the College of Arts, accompanied by his academic deputy, the Head of the English Department, and a number of college professors and students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saif Habib Hassan, Head of the Department, gave the opening speech, in which he affirmed the importance of conscious speech and the role of cultural activities in developing students’ skills and refining their awareness of societal and environmental issues.

The festival featured distinguished segments in the art of oratory, presented by students of the department with purposeful topics related to sustainability, climate change, and the responsibility of individuals in protecting the environment — reflecting their great awareness and high ability to express and persuade.

In the same context, the festival included two theatrical performances in which the students portrayed environmental and humanitarian issues in an expressive and impactful manner. One was titled “When the Earth Speaks… Do We Respond?” and the other was titled “Protecting Our Planet and Shaping Our Future,” in which the students’ artistic and intellectual talents stood out.

In turn, the organizing committee presented certificates of appreciation to the students, honoring their active role in the festival’s success and in appreciation of their efforts and intellectual creativity.

It is worth noting that this event came as part of the University of Samarra’s endeavor to support scientific and cultural activities that contribute to building the student’s personality and enhancing their role in serving society.
