College of Education at the University of Samarra Organizes Workshop on Causes and Mitigation of Global Warming

The Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Preservation Unit at the College of Education, University of Samarra, organized a workshop on “Global Warming,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Afrah Tu’ma Khalaf and Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Daham Humaidi.

Dr. Tu’ma explained the concept of global warming and its causes, including gas emissions and industrial pollution leading to rising temperatures, polar ice melt, and climate changes, as well as clarifying its environmental and economic impacts.

Mr. Daham highlighted the role of individuals in reducing emissions through community awareness, adopting eco-friendly practices to mitigate the effects of global warming, reducing the use of fossil fuels, and increasing green spaces.

The workshop presenters recommended using clean energy, reducing heavy waste, promoting a culture of afforestation, expanding green areas, and reducing emissions from large factories. They also emphasized the role of governmental institutions, especially universities, in educating and raising community awareness.
