College of Education for Pure Sciences organizes a course on green chemistry and its role in sustainability

The Chemistry Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a scientific course titled: \’Green Chemistry Towards a Sustainable Future,\’ presented by Dr. Baydaa Adnan Jasim and Assist. Lect. Tayba Abdulsalam Abboud.

The course organizers aimed to explain the mechanism of environmental protection and ensuring the health of future generations through chemistry applications.

Jasim focused on designing safer and more sustainable chemical processes and products that contribute to preventing pollution and reducing its sources.

Meanwhile, Abboud explained the concept of green chemistry as an approach that seeks to reduce emissions and waste and achieve a balance between development and the environment.

In the same context, the two lecturers demonstrated methods of preventing waste generation, including the use of renewable raw materials, developing safe solvents, as well as utilizing catalysts, and producing biodegradable materials such as bioplastics.

In turn, the two course presenters recommended that scientists, researchers, and manufacturers adopt the principles of green chemistry in their daily practices, as it is the fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and building a safe chemical future for future generations.\”
