The College of Administration and Economics Discusses Leadership and Management Leading to Success

The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Samarra held a scientific seminar titled “Leadership and Management: The Nexus of Success” delivered by Dr. Ali Abdulqader Mahmoud, Dr. Yasser Mouloud Hajah, and Lecturer Mohammed Mahmoud Taha.

The speakers clarified the concepts of leadership and management, highlighting the fundamentals of each concept and the level of interconnection between them. The fundamentals of leadership were presented as a set of variables, including (vision, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and problem-solving ability).

Dr. Abdulqader explained the fundamentals of management, which consist of planning, organizing, directing and supervising, monitoring, and evaluation. He also discussed the differences between leadership and management across various aspects, including definitions, objectives, responsibilities, relationship management, and handling change. Additionally, the seminar explored delegation skills, the concept of crisis, and ways to manage crises.

Dr. Mouloud emphasized the interconnectedness between leadership and management concepts, stressing their complementarity and the impossibility of separating them. He provided practical examples of leadership and management behaviors in different organizational work scenarios.

Similarly, Lecturer Mahmoud stated that a successful leader must also be a good manager, and an exceptional manager requires leadership skills. The combination of both skill sets is the key to achieving sustainable success and attaining organizational goals.

The seminar concluded by affirming that leadership focuses on inspiration and vision to drive change and innovation, while management emphasizes organization and execution to ensure goals are achieved efficiently and effectively.
