College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Seminar on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a scientific seminar titled “International Day of Women and Girls in Science.” The seminar was presented by Assist. Lect. Ayat Muwaffaq Majeed, Assist. Lect. Noor Khalid Ismail, and Mr. Abd al-Salam Muhannad Mahmoud.
This coincided with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which falls on February 11th of each year.
The organizers of the seminar sought to enhance community awareness of the importance of empowering women scientifically and academically.
Furthermore, they aimed to encourage female students to engage in pure science disciplines, contributing to the building of a balanced knowledge society that supports and optimally invests in female potential.
The lecturers focused on the role of women in pure science specializations and their contributions to the journey of scientific research and sustainable development.
They also reviewed the most prominent challenges facing their participation in the fields of science and technology.
The seminar witnessed the distribution of brochures to students aimed at introducing them to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, in addition to urging female students to innovate in all fields of science.
It is noteworthy that this seminar came within the college’s vision to provide the university community with the necessary knowledge, consolidate the culture of social balance, and grant women their prominent status in all fields.
