College of Engineering Discusses Challenges and Treatments of Air Pollution in Industrial Cities in a Scientific Seminar
The College of Engineering at the University of Samarra discussed “Air Pollution in Industrial Cities and Methods of Treatment” in a scientific seminar presented by the instructor (Laith Amjad Hameed).
The purpose of the seminar was to clarify the most prominent environmental challenges facing cities with increasing industrial activity, and to analyze the main sources of polluting emissions such as heavy factories, power plants, and transportation.
Laith focused on the serious impacts of these pollutants on human health, including respiratory and heart diseases, and environmental effects such as increased global warming and the deterioration of air quality.
In a related context, the lecturer reviewed a set of effective scientific and practical solutions, which included adopting modern filtration technologies, implementing strict systems to control industrial emissions, and expanding the use of clean energy, in addition to the importance of proper urban planning and planting green belts.
In turn, the presenter of the seminar recommended the concerted efforts of the industrial and government sectors and activating the role of educational and research institutions to ensure the achievement of sustainable development that maintains a healthy and safe environment for society.
