A Faculty Member at Samarra University Publishes A Book on Qura`nic Readings in The History of Religions
Dr. Noor al-Huda Rashid Khalifa, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences at Samarra University, has published a new book in collaboration with Iraqi researchers specializing in Quranic studies and comparative religions.
The book is titled \\\”The Balance of Revelation: A Quranic Reading of the History of Religions and the Unity of Religion.\\\” In this work, the authors aimed to clarify the distinction between \\\”Religion\\\” as a fixed divine origin and \\\”Sharia\\\” (legislation) as a legislative detail linked to the realities and conditions of nations.
The authors presented an in-depth methodological reading of the Holy Quran\\\’s presentation of the history of religions, emphasizing that religion is one in its essence and that Monotheism (Tawhid) is the unifying origin of all prophets\\\’ messages.
Meanwhile, the plurality of legislations came within the laws of tribulation and the progression of guidance.
The book contained a series of questions and answers to clarify the difference between religion as a fixed divine origin and Sharia as a legislative detail linked to the reality and circumstances of nations.
Additionally, it discussed issues of Prophethood and Message, confirmation and dominance (Al-Haymana), abrogation and progression, distortion (Al-Tahrif) and interpretation, and the criteria for salvation and guidance. It concludes by emphasizing that the Holy Quran is the \\\”Balance\\\” (Al-Mizan) by which claims are weighed and the historical paths of religions are understood, away from extremism or superficiality.
It is noted that this book reflects the presence of academic women—particularly the female faculty at Samarra University—in the fields of research and authorship. It adds to the record of Quranic studies and comparative religions with a solid and contemporary methodological vision.
