Rector of Samarra University Announces the University’s Return to the Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2026 Edition

The Rector of Samarra University, Prof. Dr. (Sabah Allawi al-Samarrai), announced the university’s return to compete in the Spanish Scimago Institutions Rankings (SJR) for the 2026 edition, released on Tuesday, March 3.

The university emerged prominently among Iraqi, Arab, and international universities.

The (Scimago) ranking relies on scientific research published in the Scopus database with high impact factors and high quality. It also considers patents and innovations produced by the university\’s faculty across various disciplines, in addition to reviews of the researchers\’ CVs uploaded to the university\’s official website and digital platform, as well as the number of citations and references to their published research.

For his part, the University Rector extended his thanks to the members of the special ranking committee for their exceptional efforts and tireless work to raise the university\’s name among international universities.

Furthermore, he expressed his appreciation to the university\’s academic researchers for the scientific research they provided in their specific specializations and their active participation in journals indexed within reputable global databases.
