University of Samarra Organizes Over 50 Annual Sustainability Events
The University of Samarra has announced the organization of a wide range of sustainability-related activities during 2024–2026, averaging more than 50 events per year, including conferences, scientific seminars, workshops, training courses, and awareness campaigns.
The events covered diverse themes such as Sustainable Energy Week, forestry and afforestation campaigns, seminars on green hydrogen, training courses on industrial water treatment, and innovative research initiatives like photovoltaic highway roofs for water desalination and power generation. Social activities also featured the university’s first-ever marathon and awareness campaigns highlighting the role of women in sustainability.
The university emphasized that these initiatives reflect a strategic shift from general environmental awareness to the adoption of advanced institutional policies and specialized technical innovations, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
