The College of Applied Sciences at Samarra University organizes an awareness campaign about the dangers of diabetes

The College of Applied Sciences at Samarra University organized an awareness campaign about the dangers of diabetes, coinciding with World Diabetes Day, observed annually on November 14.

The campaign included the distribution of informational and educational brochures to the college staff and students, aiming to inform them about the risks of diabetes, its modes of transmission, the reasons for its spread, and methods of prevention.

The brochures featured a definition of diabetes, identified the causes behind the global spread of type 2 diabetes, and highlighted prevention methods, including quitting smoking, exercising, losing excess weight, following a healthy diet, and reducing consumption of high-fat foods.

In addition, faculty members from the Department of Biotechnology demonstrated methods for testing individuals, collected blood samples from students for blood tests to identify those affected, and taught them how to conduct self-testing.
