A professor from the University of Samarra issues a book about the myths of the Arabs

 

Recently has published by Dar Jales Al-Zaman, the seventh product of professor in the Department of History – College of Arts. Jinan Ahmed Abdel Aziz, entitled “Myths among Arabs in Jahiliyya,” The book deals with a mysterious cultural and intellectual phenomenon, one of the phenomena of Arab culture before Islam. This is the phenomenon of myths, which occupied the Arab and Western mentality, and accusations and questions abounded about it until the Arab mentality was accused of stagnation and inability to generate it. Perhaps questions were asked: Did the Arabs have myths like the rest of the civilizations of the ancient world? So the book came to address this defect, it answers these questions, as it proved in it with conclusive historical evidence about the ability of the Arab imagination and mentality to generate religious, historical and natural myths, which are no less important and valuable than the rest of the myths of other ancient world peoples and civilizations, and from here came the book entitled (Myths among Arabs in Jahiliyyah) ), The author has divided it into three chapters preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion, she dealt in the first chapter with the myths of the Arabs are in a pre-Islamic era, and in the second chapter their importance, origin and functions, and the third chapter was devoted to the types of Arab myths in the pre-Islamic era, and then the conclusion with a summary of the results that came out of the book, Perhaps the author would have clarified an ambiguity, removed an ambiguity, answered a question, did justice to a nation, performed a service, and filled a void in our historical Arab library.
