Islamic Sciences College Raises Awareness on the Impact of Financial Corruption
The College of Islamic Sciences at Samarra University organized an awareness campaign titled “Financial Corruption and Its Impact on Society.” The initiative involved staff members from the college’s Legal Affairs Division and aimed to clarify the various types of financial corruption, its effects on individuals and society, and its negative repercussions on governmental institutions.
As part of the campaign, informational brochures were distributed to college employees, outlining different forms of financial corruption, including bribery, embezzlement, money laundering, and tax evasion. These materials also provided simplified explanations of these corrupt practices and the legal penalties imposed on those involved in such crimes.
Financial corruption is defined as the misuse of power for personal gain at the expense of public funds or institutional resources. The concept encompasses bribery, embezzlement, money laundering, and tax evasion.
This campaign is part of the university’s broader efforts to promote financial and administrative integrity within state institutions and to educate the academic community on existing laws aimed at curbing financial and administrative violations.
