Architectural Engineering Faculty Aim to Enhance Students’ Skills in Creating Iraqi Architectural Models
The staff of the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, organized a practical workshop to develop the skills of their students. The workshop focused on the creation of architectural models representing historic and distinctive examples of Iraqi architecture using recycled materials.
The workshop was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Roa’a Fadel Hamdi and Engineer Rusul Ahmed Mahdi from the Department of Architectural Engineering. It aimed to enhance the practical skills of engineering students in the field of architecture, encouraging teamwork, precision, and efficiency by dividing the students into groups with different tasks.
The workshop organizers sought to develop students’ skills in architectural visualization and 3D design, emphasizing the use of recycled materials in architecture by transforming them into geometric models. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and environmental preservation in architectural engineering.
This activity also provided students with an opportunity to study and analyze renowned Iraqi buildings, using them as sources of inspiration for design. It helped students gain a deeper understanding of Iraq’s history and architectural heritage by studying these buildings and recreating them as 3D models.
