Prime Minister’s Advisor for Energy Affairs Delivers a Specialized Lecture on Alternative Energy at the College of Engineering


Dr. Kamal Hussein Latif, Head of the Iraqi Radioactive Sources Control Authority and Advisor to the Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, delivered a specialized lecture at the College of Engineering – University of Samarra, about the alternative energy that can be used in Iraq.
In the lecture, Dr. Latif focused on the use of alternative energy with the aim of reducing or eliminating power generation through diesel stations, getting rid of the use of fuel to reduce global warming, limiting pollution rates, and reducing the economic cost consumed in generating electricity by traditional methods.
The Advisor explained that the geography of the Iraqi land can be utilized to establish wind power generation stations. Additionally, there are vast areas for setting up solar power generation stations, in addition to hydroelectric power.

It is noteworthy that the lecture was attended by the Vice Rector of the University for Scientific Affairs, the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Head of the Electromechanical Department, and a number of the college’s professors and students.
