The College of Arts at Samarra University Celebrates World Arabic Language Day

The College of Arts at Samarra University celebrated World Arabic Language Day, observed annually on December 18, as designated by the United Nations General Assembly. The event was marked by a festival organized by the Department of Arabic Language under the theme: “Arabic Language: Cultural Identity and Civilizational Heritage.”

The festival was attended by Professor Dr. Zuhair Qasim Mohammed (Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs), along with several college deans, academics from Samarra University, and other Iraqi and Arab public and private universities. A large number of university staff, employees, and students were also present.

The event began with welcoming speeches highlighting the importance of the Arabic language, delivered by the festival organizers. Distinguished guests from Al-Mustansiriya University and researchers from Palestine and Algeria presented notable research papers specializing in the Arabic language.

In the same context, the festival featured literary poems, a poetry contest for students from the Department of Arabic Language, diverse student contributions, and a presentation of the Qutrub system as part of a competition organized in collaboration with Al-Zahraa University for Women, affiliated with the Al-Abbas Shrine in Karbala.

The festival also included an exhibition showcasing posters that introduced the sciences of the Arabic language, emphasizing its role in preserving cultural identity and civilizational heritage.

The event concluded with the recognition of several academic figures and honored guests from Arab countries, with awards and certificates of appreciation presented to outstanding participants.
