A faculty member at the University of Samarra publishes a book on Iran’s media image
Assistant Lecturer Hussein Abdul-Razzaq Mohammed, a faculty member in the College of Islamic Sciences, has published a book in media studies titled The Media Image on Iraqi News Websites: An Analytical Study of Baghdad Today and Mawazine News. The book was released by the publisher Electronic Publishers Foundation – Iraq in its first edition in 2025.
Abdul-Razzaq aimed to define the concept of the image and its characteristics, as well as the concept of the media image and the role of media in shaping it. He also explored Iran’s role in the Middle East, the mental image constructed about it, and the role of media in solidifying this perception.
He explained that Iran occupies a significant geographical position, both historically and in modern times. On one side, it overlooks the Arabian Gulf and controls the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, its vast area spans approximately 1,640,000 square kilometers, with a northern region rich in fresh water and agricultural land, and shared borders with Iraq to the west and East Asian countries to the east. These factors contribute to its geographic strength, positioning it as a bridge between the East and the West of the continent.
Mohammed analyzed the diversity of perspectives in new media and the way news concerning Iran is written. He highlighted that these differences stem from varied political stances on issues related to Iraq, the Arabian Gulf, and the world. His book draws on a range of diverse and credible sources, including Iraqi, Arab, and foreign references.
In a related note, the faculty and staff of the Department of Media and Government Communication extend their congratulations to their colleague, Assistant Lecturer Hussein Abdul-Razzaq Mohammed, on the publication of his first book in his area of expertise. They wish him continued success in his academic journey.
