Two Professors from the University of Samarra Participate in a Workshop on the Shanghai Ranking
Assistant Professor Dr. (Kilan Ismail Abdullah) and Assistant Lecturer (Mohammad Jassim Mohammad), faculty members at the College of Administration and Economics, participated in a workshop on the “Shanghai Ranking for Universities and Academic and Medical Disciplines,” organized by the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority at the University of Baghdad on January 8, 2025.
The workshop introduced the Shanghai Ranking, its criteria, and the goals that must be achieved to be included in the ranking, such as high-quality scientific research, research impact, educational indicators, and international partnerships.
The workshop presented a study highlighting the rankings of universities from around the world, including Arab universities, and explained the factors that contribute to improving their positions in the Shanghai Ranking.
The event concluded with discussions about the challenges facing Iraqi universities in achieving higher ranks, along with clarifications on the correct mechanisms to address these challenges. Additionally, updates recently added to the Shanghai Ranking were discussed, as well as strategies for leveraging these updates to enhance the progress of Iraqi universities and facilitate their inclusion in the ranking.
The participation of the University of Samarra in this significant workshop is considered a step toward achieving the scientific plan set by the university administration, aiming to compete with Iraqi, Arab, and international universities in academic rankings and to pave the way for scientific advancement.
