College of Education Discusses Geomorphological Indicators in a Scientific Seminar

The Department of Geography at the College of Education, University of Samarra, held a scientific seminar titled “Geomorphological Indicators and Their Role in Understanding the Evolution of River Valleys and Their Response to Natural, Climatic, and Tectonic Changes.” The seminar was presented by Professor Dr. Sabah Hammoud Ghafar and Assistant Lecturer Hala Alaa Al-Din Sami.

The presenters reviewed the most important geomorphological indicators, which are categorized into morphometric indicators, river incision indicators, and sedimentary and geological indicators.

The seminar focused on the significance of these indicators, particularly in analyzing geomorphological developments, assessing natural hazards such as floods and landslides, and understanding environmental changes.

Additionally, the speakers emphasized that these indicators enhance the understanding of factors influencing river environments and support future specialized studies in geographical sciences.

It is noteworthy that such continuing education activities in various disciplines contribute to expanding knowledge in specialized fields and fostering an educational and cultural environment through innovative approaches.
