Samarra University Faculty Member Earns Ph.D. Degree

A Ph.D. dissertation was defended at the College of Education, Samarra University, titled “Evaluation of Certain Neurological, Immunological, and Biochemical Variables in Women Infected with Toxoplasma gondii in Samarra City” by researcher Omar Abdullah Ahmed, a faculty member at the College of Applied Sciences and Director of the Scientific Affairs Department.

In his dissertation, the researcher aimed to investigate the effects of Toxoplasma gondii infection on various proteins, enzymes, neurotransmitters, immune markers, antioxidants, and oxidative stress indicators. Additionally, he focused on diagnosing the infection in women who had experienced miscarriages by measuring antibodies in affected individuals.

The results indicated a significant increase in immunoglobulin levels among infected women, highlighting its essential role in the innate immune response. Furthermore, there was an observed elevation in neurofilament protein levels in the blood, attributed to its high concentration in neuronal cells. This protein is among the most abundant neurological proteins compared to others.

On behalf of the university, the Media and Government Communication Department extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Omar Abdullah Ahmed, wishing him continued success in his academic career.
