A seminar at the College of Education discusses the pros and cons of technology on humans

The College of Education at the University of Samarra organized a scientific seminar titled “Humans and Technology: Between Positives and Negatives (Social Media as a Model),” presented by Dr. Ghassan Faisal Mohammed and Dr. Hanaa Tareed Kurdi.

The seminar aimed to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of technology, especially social media platforms, and the psychological, health, and material harms caused by electronic addiction on individuals and society.

Dr. Faisal addressed the positives and negatives of addiction to social media sites and the resulting harms, in addition to the legal implications of technology use, such as spreading false and misleading news and its impact on social relationships.

On the other hand, Dr. Tareed explained the role of technology in facilitating daily life, the relationship between humans and technology, and its role in easing communication between individuals and communities, particularly in the exchange of knowledge, sciences, and information quickly and easily, as well as enhancing religious and cultural awareness through the dissemination of purposeful content.

Both lecturers recommended the necessity of enhancing digital awareness among youth to avoid negative use, encouraging the dissemination of purposeful and positive content on social media platforms, setting regulations to organize time spent using social media, and emphasizing the importance of strengthening the role of educational and religious institutions in promoting a culture of responsible technology use.
