College of Agriculture Advises Farmers on Modern Irrigation Strategies and Balanced Fertilization

The College of Agriculture at the University of Samarra organized an extension field symposium presented by Prof. Dr. Khalid Abdullah Suhr (Dean of the College) as part of the “field observation” activities organized by the Agricultural Extension Training Center in Salah al-Din / the extension farm in Balad District.

Khalid addressed scientific and extension axes focusing on the importance of adopting modern agricultural techniques to face environmental and climatic challenges, as well as disseminating seeds of strategic crops tolerant to salinity and drought, in addition to applying modern irrigation systems to rationalize water consumption, and balanced fertilization and its role in increasing productivity and improving soil fertility within modern irrigation systems.

In the same context, the Dean of the College emphasized in his symposium the importance of linking scientific research with field application, indicating that the College of Agriculture continuously seeks to support the agricultural sector by providing scientific expertise and technical consultations that contribute to the development of agricultural production and the achievement of sustainability, especially in light of challenges related to water scarcity and high salinity levels.

The symposium witnessed the attendance of several agricultural and academic entities, including the Balad Agriculture Division and the Local Union of Farmers’ Associations in Balad, in addition to a wide participation of specialists, farmers, and those interested in agricultural affairs.

It is noted that this activity comes within the efforts of the College of Agriculture at the University of Samarra to enhance agricultural awareness and transfer modern technologies to the field, contributing to raising the efficiency of local production and supporting food security and sustainable development.
