Computation Center Trains University Staff on Managing Scientific Journals
The Computation Center at the University of Samarra organized a training course on “Scientific Journals Management,” which spanned two days.
The course was presented by Mr. Mohammed Abbas Hussein – Managing Editor of the Samarra Journal of Engineering Sciences, Lecturer Raed Ashraf Kamil, Assist. Lect. Raqeeb Mahmoud Hassan, and Mr. Osama Ali Hussein.
The organizers aimed to support scientific research and enhance the quality of the scientific journals issued by the university, contributing to raising the university’s ranking locally and internationally.
The lecturers focused on the mechanisms of managing electronic scientific journals, publishing and peer-review systems, and international indexing requirements.
Additionally, they introduced the approved electronic platforms for journal management and highlighted the most prominent challenges facing scientific journals and ways to improve them.
The course targeted managing editors of academic journals and their staff at the university, including the personnel of newly established journals and those under establishment.
For their part, the attendees emphasized the importance of continuing to organize specialized courses due to their effective role in developing scientific and administrative capabilities and enhancing the efficiency of managing academic journals.
It is noted that this course was part of the center’s scientific activities aimed at developing the skills of academic and administrative staff and keeping pace with the requirements of sober scientific publishing.
