Enhancing Practical Learning: College of Engineering Takes Students on a Field Visit to Residential Complexes in Baghdad

The faculty of the Architectural Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, organized a field visit for their students to the under-construction Badur and Al-Wud residential complexes in Baghdad. The visit aimed to enhance the practical and applied aspects of architectural engineering education.

The department faculty sought to familiarize students with the planning and design stages of both horizontal and vertical residential units while providing them with an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts learned in lectures.

A group of architectural engineering professors and engineers supervised the visit as part of the Architectural Design course requirements. During the visit, faculty members provided comprehensive explanations on-site, focusing on various aspects of the residential projects, particularly in terms of planning and design.

Students expressed their appreciation for the experience, highlighting how the visit helped them connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This, in turn, strengthened their understanding of urban design in general and residential unit design in particular.

It is worth noting that regular field visits play a significant role in expanding students’ knowledge, deepening their architectural design concepts, and exposing them to the latest technologies and practices in residential project design and construction.
