Samarra University Launches a Campaign to Plant 2,000 Trees in the University and Schools of Samarra
Believing in the importance of expanding green spaces in the city, the Afforestation Unit at the Presidency of Samarra University, in collaboration with the Department of Media and Government Communication, has initiated a large-scale tree-planting campaign. This effort involves planting 2,000 evergreen trees of various species in the university gardens and public schools across Samarra.
The campaign is supported by the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, which has provided different types of evergreen and long-lived trees, including Acacia, Dodonaea, and ornamental palm trees.
As part of the initiative, the campaign team distributed the trees across the university gardens and several schools in Samarra, including Al-Anfal Primary School, Sir Man Ra’a Public School, Al-Zubair bin Al-Awwam School, Al-Hanaa School, Al-Shaymaa School, and Samarra High School for Outstanding Students.
This campaign aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which are based on recommendations from the Council of Ministers to combat desertification and expand green spaces in urban areas and government institutions. It also reinforces the university’s role in supporting afforestation efforts and promoting the sustainability of green environments.
