The College of Education at the University of Samarra organized a scientific symposium titled “Enhancing Social Skills for Children with Autism,” presented by a group of faculty members from the college’s Geography Department. The symposium’s lecturers aimed to explain methods for understanding children with autism, emphasizing individualized approaches and training tailored to each child. These interactions are designed to meet the specific needs of the children, highlighting the importance of structured social engagement by providing opportunities for them to interact with peers and participate in group activities.

Additionally, the symposium focused on explicit guidance for the social behaviors of children with autism, particularly those who struggle with understanding non-verbal communication. The lecturers advocated for teaching through the use of social stories to help these children navigate various situations. They also recommended creating a supportive environment to encourage children, especially those with autism, and to boost their self-confidence.

It is noted that parents and educators need to exercise patience and concentrate on developing communication skills in children with autism.
