The Internal Departments Raise Student Awareness About the Impact of Drugs on Society
The Social Research Division in the Department of Internal Affairs at the University of Samarra held an awareness seminar for university students on “Drugs and Their Health Impacts on Society,” delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Adnan Talfah Mohammed and Assistant Lecturer Aws Samir Qadir.
The seminar aimed to educate all university students, including those residing in the internal departments, about the dangers of drugs and their health effects on both individuals and society, and to encourage their active role in combating this issue.
The speakers addressed the concept and definitions of drugs, highlighted the types of drugs, their dangers to individuals and society, and the reasons behind their use.
In the same context, the speakers explained methods of drug prevention and discussed scientific and practical approaches to combat them.
Additionally, the seminar recommended empowering students to play a role in curbing the spread of drugs, noting that university students possess the knowledge and cultural awareness to elucidate the psychological, social, economic, and security-related dangers of drug use on individuals and society. The seminar also emphasized the role of various governmental and non-governmental institutions in reducing and eliminating addiction and drug abuse.
