University of Samarra Colleges Organize Self-Defense Training Course for Female Students
The Colleges of Islamic Sciences, Applied Sciences, and Physical Education at the University of Samarra organized a self-defense training course for their female students, titled “How to Defend Yourself.” The course was led by Dr. Nebras Abdul Sattar Hassoub and Assistant Instructor Aseel Saad Fadel, with assistance from female students of the Physical Education College.
The organizers aimed to train the students in basic self-defense techniques and provide advice on awareness and prevention, especially in unfamiliar or dark places. The training included martial arts such as karate, judo, and taekwondo, focusing on teaching how to act under pressure.
Additionally, practical applications of these arts were conducted by female students from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, under the guidance of the college’s instructors. The exercises demonstrated self-defense mechanisms in various situations to help women, in particular, avoid potential dangers.
The course concluded by emphasizing the importance of mental training and envisioning dangerous scenarios to develop quick reflexes, as well as learning breathing techniques to control stress.
