University of Samarra Employee Earns Master’s Degree in Islamic Sharia
Mrs. Hiba Majeed Ahmed, an employee at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Samarra, has earned her Master’s degree in Islamic Sharia from the same college.
Her thesis was titled “The Jurisprudential Regulations Governing Medical Professions – A Contemporary Jurisprudential Study.”
The significance of her research lies in its contemporary relevance and the urgent need to understand the Islamic legal rulings and guidelines concerning certain surgical procedures, as well as the use of prohibited and toxic substances for medical treatment.
Majeed explained that the motivation behind her study stemmed from the community’s growing demand for clarity on religious rulings, particularly due to the increasing inquiries regarding medical jurisprudence, cosmetic surgeries, and treatment involving prohibited, impure, or toxic substances. She noted that many modern medical professions involve complex and novel cases that require scholarly attention.
In her findings, the researcher concluded that Islamic Sharia is a comprehensive system that prioritizes the prevention of harm and hardship. It provides complete and adaptable guidelines suitable for all times. From a jurisprudential perspective, it is permissible to use prohibited or impure substances for medical treatment when necessary to preserve life. Likewise, cosmetic surgical procedures are allowed under certain circumstances of necessity. Additionally, it is permissible for women to study, learn, and work in medical professions, as there is no religious objection to this.
On behalf of the University of Samarra, the Department of Media and Government Communication extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Hiba Majeed Ahmed on obtaining her advanced degree, wishing her continued success in her academic journey.
