Prof. Dr. Kamal Hussein Ahmed, Vice Rector of the University for Scientific Affairs, chaired an extensive meeting in his office with the members of the central “Renewable Energy and Sustainability Committee,” which was formed based on the ministerial order issued on December 25 of last year.
The committee included in its membership the directors of the departments of: Missions and Cultural Relations, Scientific Affairs, Quality Assurance and University Performance, Postgraduate Studies, and the General Secretariat of the Central Library, in addition to professors specializing in environmental sustainability.
The attendees discussed the mechanism for developing medium- and short-term work plans, and proposals in renewable energy and sustainability that can be implemented and adopted within the technical and service work contexts of the university, as well as following up on the colleges’ work and activities related to energy and sustainability.
For his part, the Scientific Vice Rector recommended the formation of sub-teams and committees in the colleges called “University Green Teams for Energy and Sustainability.” These teams will include students, employees, and professors in their membership, with the aim of involving everyone in implementing the recommendations and paragraphs of the government program. These teams will be responsible for following up on their colleges’ activities and submitting them to the central committee.
