Samarra University Promotes Awareness of Women’s Social Security Law
The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, organized an educational seminar titled “From Rights to Benefits: Understanding the Labour and Social Security Law.” The seminar was presented by Assist. Lect. Saad Mahdi Salih, a faculty member at the college.
The presenter aimed to highlight the effective role of Iraqi women as essential partners in building societies and an important pillar in economic and social development.
Mahdi explained the significance of the Labour Law No.( 37 )of (2015), in addition to the Social Security Law which guarantees women’s rights and protects them from discrimination and injustice.
He emphasized the principle of equality in the workplace regarding wages and privileges, while taking into account individual differences in practical competence.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including: observing safety procedures, refraining from involving women in physically dangerous or unsuitable work, and establishing deterrent mechanisms to limit all forms of harassment.
