Faculty Members at the College of Agriculture Publish Joint Research in a Scopus-Indexed Journal
Dr. Mona Ayed Youssef, Assist. Lect. Mohammed Ghaib Faris, and Assist. Lect. Ali Ahmed Ali, faculty members at the College of Agriculture, University of Samarra, published a joint scientific research paper in the Journal of Global Innovations in Agricultural Sciences, which is classified within the third quartile (Q3) of the Scopus database.
The research was titled \”Growth Dynamics and Yield of Proso Millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) Under Water Stress During Pre- and Post-Flowering Stages.\”
It aimed to study the response of Proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) to water stress during the pre-flowering and post-flowering stages to support sustainable agricultural practices and improve water resource management in light of future climate challenges, particularly in semi-arid regions.
The results of the study indicated that the pre-flowering stage recorded the highest decrease in plant height (\\bm{57.44\\%}) and total dry weight (\\bm{69.07\\%}) compared to the control treatment. Meanwhile, the number of panicles per plant decreased by \\bm{77.71\\%}, the weight of 1000 grains by \\bm{50.43\\%}, panicle length by \\bm{52.08\\%}, grain yield per plant by \\bm{57.93\\%}, and the drought tolerance index by \\bm{58\\%} compared to the control treatment during the post-flowering stage.
It is noteworthy that this research is an important scientific addition that contributes to enhancing knowledge related to irrigation management and improving the productivity of forage and grain crops under water stress conditions, in line with the requirements of sustainable agriculture and food security.
