Professor from University Participates in International Scientific Conference on Archaeological and Religious Tourism in Oman
Professor Ibrahim Hussein Khalaf from the College of Arts at the University of Samarra participated in the international scientific conference held in early February at the University of Nizwa in the Sultanate of Oman. The conference, titled “Heritage, Tourism, and Culture: Renewed Visions for Civilizational Development,” was attended by the Omani Minister of Heritage and Tourism, the Omani Minister of Higher Education, and the President of the University of Nizwa.
Professor Khalaf presented a research paper titled “Archaeological and Religious Tourism in the City of Samarra: Reality and Aspirations,” focusing on the importance of disseminating accurate archaeological and tourism information. He emphasized the necessity of building a scientific database to support urban development in the tourism sector and to curb the spread of misinformation.
Separately, Professor Khalaf highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation among various archaeological, tourism, and heritage sectors, integrating specialized global expertise to advance archaeological and religious tourism.
The conference featured distinguished participation from a group of academics and researchers specializing in archaeology and religious tourism from various Arab and foreign countries.
