Symposium on Management and Economics Discusses the Role of Social Culture in Combating Drug Abuse

The College of Management and Economics at the University of Samarra held a scientific symposium titled “Social Culture and Its Impact on Combating Drug Abuse,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdul Salam Ahmed (Dean of the College), in collaboration with the Community Police in Samarra.

The symposium, attended by a distinguished group of faculty members, staff, and students, focused on the role of social culture in raising awareness of the dangers of drug abuse.

In his discussion, Dr. Abdul Salam emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between governmental and community institutions to curb the spread of this epidemic.

Additionally, the symposium highlighted successful experiences in combating addiction and discussed the role of families, universities, and media in guiding youth toward a safe, drug-free environment.

The Dean of the College described community awareness as the cornerstone in building protective barriers against drug abuse. He also stressed the importance of promoting positive cultural values, awareness programs, and prioritizing education on the dangers of drugs to safeguard future generations.

The event concluded with a discussion among attendees, leading to several recommendations, including strengthening legal regulations and enhancing cooperation between different sectors to combat drug abuse and protect society.
