Master’s Thesis Discussion at the University of Samarra Evaluates Klotho Protein Deficiency

A master’s thesis at the College of Education, University of Samarra, titled “Evaluation of Klotho Protein Deficiency as a Risk Factor for Cardiovascular Diseases,” was presented by the student Abdulrahman Sajid Zidan.

In his research, the student aimed to evaluate alpha-Klotho protein along with some biochemical variables in patients with atherosclerosis. The study also assessed alpha-Klotho protein, troponin, creatine kinase enzyme, and lipid levels.

The results indicated that the concentration of alpha-Klotho protein in the group of atherosclerosis patients was “3.00± 0.14 ng/mL” compared to “4.78± 0.27 ng/mL” in healthy individuals. There were no significant differences between the two groups (patients and healthy individuals) due to heart diseases causing the release of various proteins into the bloodstream, followed by an increase in troponin levels in the first few hours as an indicator of myocardial necrosis “166”.
