A lecturer at Samarra University publishes a research paper on water treatment in a Scopus-indexed journal.

Dr. (Saeb Jasim Muhammad), a lecturer at the College of Applied Sciences, Samarra University, has published a scientific research paper in the journal Microbial Biosystems, which specializes in microbiology, issued in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and classified in the fourth quartile (Q4) of the Scopus database.

The research is titled \”Design of a Filter Using Spirulina sp. Algae Powder for the Treatment of Three Different Types of Wastewater.\” It aimed to design a three-layer filter for treating industrial wastewater, composed of sand, carbon powder, and Spirulina sp. algae powder, while evaluating the efficiency of each type of filter separately.

The results showed that the values of raw, untreated water exceeded the permissible limits according to World Health Organization standards and Iraqi standards. The filter achieved high efficiency in removing pollutants after treatment, in addition to a notable decrease in pollutant concentrations in all tested samples.

It is worth mentioning that this study is an important scientific contribution to the field of water treatment using biological materials, representing a promising trend toward developing environmentally friendly and effective techniques for reducing water pollution.
