A Seminar at the College of Administration and Economics Discusses the Social and Economic Dimensions of Illegal Migration

The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Samarra held an awareness seminar titled “Illegal Migration and Its Social and Economic Dimensions.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturers Hatem Karim Ahmed, Sabah Ahmed Ismail, and Ahmed Thaer Mahmoud.

The seminar explored the phenomenon of illegal migration from various perspectives, with a focus on its social and economic impacts. It highlighted the motivations that drive individuals to choose illegal migration, including economic, political, and social factors.

The speakers elaborated on the social dimensions of migration and its effects on communities, particularly the loss of skilled professionals, family disintegration, and the weakening of social cohesion. They also addressed the impact of migrants on host communities, including the pressures they place on these societies, which often reflect negatively on the migrants themselves, exposing them to exploitation or the risk of deportation.

The seminar concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need for comprehensive solutions from both national and international entities to address the phenomenon of illegal migration, in addition to addressing the root causes of migration.
