A seminar at the College of Education focuses on combating extremism and intolerance

The College of Education at the University of Samarra organized a two-day awareness seminar titled “Strategies to Combat Extremism and Intolerance,” presented by Dr. Nour Al-Din Faisal Ibrahim, Assistant Lecturer Haider Basim Farhan, and Assistant Lecturer Amina Farhan Mahmoud.

The speakers aimed to explore the methods and causes of extremism, understanding its psychological, social, and cultural roots, in addition to ways to address it before it escalates into violence.

During the seminar, various methods and mechanisms were presented to develop preventive strategies to confront early stages of extremism, reduce it, and prevent its progression to violence.

The speakers recommended enhancing communication and dialogue skills to promote values of tolerance, as well as fostering solidarity and cooperation among community members to combat hate speech. They also emphasized strengthening critical thinking skills among youth, especially in educational institutions, to reduce extremist thinking and counter hate speech.
