A Unique Academic Experience: Second-Year Media Students Present Research Projects at the University of Samarra
In a one-of-a-kind academic experience, second-year students from the Department of Media at the College of Arts, University of Samarra, presented their scientific research projects as part of the “Scientific Research Methods” course on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The session, supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Arak Ghanem Mohammed, aimed to instill an early foundation in academic methodology and analytical thinking.
Public relations students within the department engaged in interactive discussions with their instructors, who provided critical feedback on various chapters and sections of the students’ academic work. The instructors also offered guidance on utilizing research tools, formulating objectives, and addressing scientific problems that students had been working on since the beginning of the academic year.
The course in “Scientific Research” is a foundational subject taught in the second year, designed to support students throughout their academic journey—from undergraduate to postgraduate studies. Students are assigned to prepare research papers subject to discussion, analysis, and evaluation, with faculty members closely following the progress of each project. Emphasis is placed on adhering to scientific quality standards to ensure the production of valuable, applicable research that contributes to the media field.
The faculty of the Media Department continues to strive for comprehensive academic and intellectual development of its students. Their efforts aim to equip graduates with the skills needed to navigate the expanding media landscape and keep pace with its rapid advancements, while also opening new opportunities for continued academic success and meaningful societal engagement.
