College of Education for Pure Sciences Seeks to Curb Illegal Migration through a Scientific Seminar
The Department of Physics, in cooperation with the Media Division at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Samarra, organized a seminar titled “From Here We Start… and in Samarra We Build, Together Against Migration,” presented by Assist. Lect. Nawfal Abdul-Rahman Hamood.
Nawfal sought to shift the traditional path of graduates from “waiting for a job” to “creating the opportunity” within their own country, in addition to changing the mindset through science specializations.
As science specializations are considered the backbone of industry—especially local investment in the city of Samarra—being an environment rich in pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, renewable energy, and programming, it awaits the minds of its sons.
This is particularly true since Iraq does not need minds that depart, but rather hands that remain to build.
The lecturer recommended against migration with the saying: “Do not migrate with your mind before your body,” urging students to continuously develop their technical skills to make pure science graduates a “difficult number” in the country’s labor market.
It is worth noting that the seminar was held in implementation of ministerial directives to activate awareness programs and intensify media campaigns to curb illegal migration, enhancing the university’s role in purposeful awareness-raising aspects.
