Scientific Symposium at the College of Education on Challenges in Translating from Arabic to English

The Arabic Language Department at the College of Education, University of Samarra, organized a scientific symposium titled “Prospects and Challenges of Translation between Arabic and English.” The symposium featured presentations by Dr. Noor Ismail Mustafa, Assistant Lecturer Jihan Karim Abdullah, and Ms. Ayat Ismail Mustafa.

The symposium introduced the concept of translation among Arabs, both linguistically and terminologically, discussed Arab scholars’ perspectives on translation, and clarified linguistic differences, cultural disparities, and methods of cultural transmission.

The presenters emphasized the necessity of accurately conveying meaning and considering the nature of the translated material, whether scientific, literary, or descriptive media content.

The symposium concluded with important recommendations, highlighting the need for translators to understand the linguistic context to ensure the preservation of cultural expression and the integrity of the source language.
