Dean of Samarra Agriculture Trains Ministry of Agriculture Staff
The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Samarra, Professor Dr. Khalid Abdullah Suher, has been selected to conduct a training course for staff of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture on “The Role and Importance of Ornamental Plants in Combating Desertification and Reducing Pollution.” The course is scheduled from February 9 to 13, 2025.
The course aims to highlight the significance of ornamental plants and their contribution to pollution reduction by enhancing vegetation cover and combating desertification.
Dr. Suher emphasized that ornamental plants are among the most common worldwide, used to beautify gardens and homes. They play a vital role in improving mental health, air quality, and reducing temperatures.
Participants were also guided on the necessity of combating desertification and increasing vegetation cover, starting with planting in homes and gardens, especially long-lived trees with dense foliage.
The course was organized by the Training and Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture as part of its training program to develop the skills of its personnel.
