The College of Physical Education Clarifies the Role of Sports in Achieving Human Rights in an Awareness Seminar

The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Samarra organized an awareness seminar titled “Sports and Equality: How Sports Help in Promoting Human Rights,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Wisam Hamid Ali and Assistant Lecturer Aseel Saad Fadel.

Saad provided an overview of how sports achieve equality and involve both genders, regardless of gender, religion, ethnic and national origin, and social and economic status, considering them as natural rights.

For his part, Hamid explained the role of sports in promoting human rights and integrating individuals into society. He noted that sports teach people values that transcend gender, nationality, age, or even physical condition, adding that sports are important in promoting human rights globally through the interactions they generate between communities from different backgrounds and cultures.

It is noteworthy that the seminar was organized by the Human Rights Unit in the college to highlight the role of sports in enhancing the spirit of partnership and cooperation between communities, establishing human rights concepts, and activating the role of athletes and fans in promoting these concepts.
