Two Lecturers from the University of Samarra Participate in an International Scientific Conference on Natural Sciences in Malaysia
Prof. Dr. Ghassan Fares Attiya, a lecturer at the College of Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Rana Ibrahim Khalil, a lecturer at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Samarra, participated in the proceedings of the International Scientific Conference in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, held under the title (The International Conference on Environment and Natural Sciences) at the end of last October.
The lecturers’ participation was represented by their research titled: “The Efficacy of Some Natural Products in Removing the Pollution Load from Industrial Wastewater.”
The objective of the research was to develop and test an innovative treatment system for industrial wastewater, relying on natural materials available in the local environment without the need for expensive or harmful chemical substances.
The two researchers designed a system that allows for the integrated treatment of physical, chemical, and biological pollutants, focusing on simplicity and effectiveness in industrial environments with limited resources.
It is worth noting that the study yielded prominent results, including a significant reduction in turbidity and suspended solids by over 80%, a decrease in the concentration of harmful chemical compounds such as nitrates and heavy metals, and a reduction in the number of bacteria and microbes by more than 90%, thereby enhancing environmental safety.
