University of Samarra Uses Energy-Efficient Appliances

As part of its general approach to reducing electricity consumption and ensuring sustainability, the University of Samarra has adopted the use of energy-efficient appliances.
The university administration directed the replacement of traditional bulbs with LED lamps in most classrooms and administrative offices, reducing consumption by up to 60% of total usage. The university also installed smart ventilation systems and energy-saving fans in laboratories and offices, as well as air-conditioning units powered by solar energy.
In the same context, researchers at the University of Samarra have worked on developing cooling systems based on Phase Change Materials (PCM) enhanced with nanomaterials. In addition, the university launched the “No Energy Waste Campus” program with the participation of more than 2,000 students, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2030.
Furthermore, solar panels with a capacity of 500 kW have been installed to supply several buildings, with a strategic plan to cover 40% of energy needs by 2035.
