Workshop at the University of Samarra Explains Financial Data Processing and Conversion

The Financial Affairs Department at the Presidency of the University of Samarra organized a workshop titled “Processing and Converting Financial Data According to Banking Software Systems to Upload the Financial Entitlements of the University of Samarra.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Diaa Akreem and Mr. Omar Yahya Ahmed.

The organizers aimed to equip accountants with practical skills necessary for efficiently processing and converting financial data from Excel to CSV format, ensuring the accuracy and speed of uploading the university staff’s financial entitlements to the approved financial systems.

Mr. Diaa defined localization as the process of transitioning from traditional methods of disbursing financial entitlements to electronic payments through bank accounts using banking cards.

He added that the benefits of localization include enhancing financial inclusion, reducing risks associated with financial transactions, ensuring compliance with banking regulations, and facilitating payment processes and financial transfers.

Mr. Yahya emphasized the necessity of adopting financial and accounting information systems for revenues and expenditures to contribute to the ease of using electronic payment methods and e-collection.

The workshop concluded with recommendations, most notably the need to train university accountants on the mechanism of electronically uploading financial entitlements, preparing official transfer documents before the upload day, matching the number of entries and amounts in the file with official documents, and verifying files and entitlements before transfer.

It is noteworthy that this workshop is a continuation of the implementation of the Cabinet’s 2023 decision, which emphasizes the adoption of financial and accounting information systems.
