College of Education for Humanities Launches its First Scientific Forum on Educational Challenges and Methods of Prevention Extremism and Drugs

The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Samarra launched the activities of its First Scientific Forum, organized in partnership with the Department of Religious Education and Islamic Studies, coinciding with Drug Awareness Week. The forum was held under the slogan “Extremism and Drugs: Educational Challenges and Prevention Methods” on Monday, November 24, 2025. aiming at enhancing awareness of the dangers of drugs and extremism in the educational environment and to consolidate partnerships between religious, educational, and security institutions in confronting negative social phenomena.
The forum was distinguished by the attendance of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, his assistants, and the college staff, including faculty members , and students. In addition to the presence of representatives from the Department of Religious Education affiliated with the Sunni Endowment Diwan, along with a group of researchers and specialists in social and human sciences, who enriched the forum with distinguished scientific research.
The forum’s activities began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of all the martyrs of Iraq, followed by the opening speech delivered by the Dean of the College. The Dean inaugurated the forum, welcomed the attendees, and highlighted the importance of research efforts in awareness and guidance. This was followed by a speech from the representative of the Department of Religious Education and Islamic Studies, who emphasized the significance of integrating academic and religious efforts in confronting extremism and drugs.
From the research perspective, the forum included a package of specialized scientific research on extremism and drugs, discussing the educational, religious, legal, and social aspects related to the phenomena of extremism and drugs and their direct effects on the educational environment and society alike.
In the same context, the discussion sessions included joint scientific dialogues that allowed for visions and proposals and opened up future research areas aimed at enhancing community awareness and improving society from negative phenomena.
The activities concluded with several recommendations that focused on promoting moderate religious discourse and establishing values of moderation, preparing school programs that expose the methods of recruitment by extremists and drug dealers, as well as training teachers to monitor early behavioral indicators of at-risk students, and supporting an educational environment based on discipline and psychological care.
It is worth noting that the forum concluded with the distribution of certificates to the researchers and participants in the research and discussion sessions, in addition to presenting an excellence shield to the organizing committees of the forum in appreciation of their efforts in ensuring the success and optimal presentation of the activities.
