Samarra University’s College of Administration and Economics Raises Awareness on Transformational Leadership
The College of Administration and Economics at Samarra University organized an awareness seminar on “Transformational Leadership: Characteristics, Advantages, and Challenges,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Dalia Marai Jubouri and Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Thaer Mahmoud, both faculty members at the college.
The seminar discussed the concept of transformational leadership, defining it as “a leadership style that focuses on the interactive relationship between the leader and subordinates.”
Marai highlighted the benefits of transformational leadership, which establish clear expectations between managers and employees to enhance productivity. She emphasized the role of continuous incentives and rewards, balanced with a structured system of penalties for underperformance.
On the other hand, Thaer addressed the drawbacks of this leadership style, noting that excessive supervision can become a restrictive system that stifles innovation and productivity, ultimately limiting opportunities for workplace development.
The seminar concluded with recommendations for leaders, emphasizing that transformational leadership is a crucial foundation for creating a successful institutional work environment, provided that its principles and conditions are effectively implemented to ensure tangible success.
