College of Engineering Organizes Specialized Cybersecurity Course for Women

The College of Engineering at the University of Samarra organized a training course on “Cybersecurity for Women,” presented by Dr. Awras Fadhel Khalaf, Head of the Electromechanical Engineering Department.

Dr. Awras aimed to provide the necessary guidelines to raise the level of personal and family protection for women in cyberspace.

The lecturer addressed the challenges women face in their daily use of technology, paying special attention to raising awareness about the risks of hacking, digital extortion, and frequent targeting methods.

In the same context, the course presenter pointed out a set of practical guidelines, emphasizing the need to create strong passwords and activate two-factor authentication, in addition to equipping the participants with mechanisms for the secure handling of personal and family data on smart devices and social media platforms.

The course concluded by clarifying how to distinguish between secure links and malware to ensure the safety of online interactions.

It is worth noting that this course is part of the College’s plan aimed at supporting women academically and professionally, and enhancing cybersecurity, which is considered part of the general culture and individual safety within the university community.
